Tests & Homework

Submit homework assignments, take quizzes and tests, and see how your work is graded.

Homework Assignments

Homework assignments are created by your teacher and linked to specific channels or episodes. You complete and submit homework through the web companion app (your phone, tablet, or computer), since interactive form input is not available directly on the Roku TV.

Viewing Assignments

To see your current homework assignments:

  1. Navigate to your channel

Open the channel (course) that the homework belongs to from your dashboard.

  2. Open the Homework tab

Within the channel view, select the "Homework" tab to see all assigned work. Assignments are listed with their title, due date, and status (pending, submitted, or graded).

  3. Read the instructions

Select an assignment to view the full instructions, any attached resources, and the submission requirements.

Submitting Your Work

Depending on the assignment type, you can submit your response in one of two ways:

  • Text Response — Type your answer directly into the submission text box. This is common for short-answer questions, essays, and written reflections.
  • File Upload — Upload a document, image, or other file from your device. Supported formats include PDF, DOCX, JPG, PNG, and MP4.
Watch the Due Date Homework submissions are timestamped. If you submit after the due date, your teacher will see that it was submitted late. Some teachers may deduct points for late submissions.

Taking Tests

Tests and quizzes are formal assessments that measure your understanding of the course material. Unlike homework, tests may be timed and are typically taken in a single sitting.

Test Question Types

The platform supports three question types:

Multiple Choice

Select the correct answer from a list of options (A, B, C, D). These are automatically graded by the system as soon as you submit.

True / False

Determine whether a statement is true or false. Like multiple choice, these are automatically graded upon submission.

Short Answer

Type a written response. These require manual grading by your teacher, so scores may take longer to appear.

How to Take a Test

  1. Open the Test

Navigate to the Tests tab within your channel and select the test you want to take. Read any instructions at the top carefully.

  2. Watch the Timer

If the test is timed, a countdown clock appears at the top of the screen. Keep an eye on it as you work through the questions.

  3. Answer All Questions

Work through each question. You can skip questions and come back to them before submitting. Unanswered questions are marked as incomplete.

  4. Review and Submit

Before submitting, review your answers. Once submitted, you cannot change them. The system will process your test immediately.

Test/Quiz Workflow

Here is how the test-taking and grading process works end to end:

TEST / QUIZ WORKFLOW Student Opens Test Timer Starts (if timed test) Answer Questions Submit Test MCQ / T-F SHORT ANSWER Auto-Graded Instant results Teacher Grades Manual review Score Posted to Grades Multiple choice and true/false questions are graded instantly; short answer requires teacher review
About Test Attempts Each time you take a test, a "test attempt" record is created. Depending on how your teacher configured the test, you may be allowed to retake it a limited number of times. Your best score or most recent score (depending on settings) is used in your grade calculation.

Understanding Your Grades

Grades from homework and tests are combined to calculate your overall performance in each channel. The platform uses a standard letter-grade scale with corresponding grade point values.

Grade Scale

Letter Grade Percentage Range Grade Points Description
A 90% – 100% 4.0 Excellent — Outstanding mastery of the material
B 80% – 89% 3.0 Good — Solid understanding with minor gaps
C 70% – 79% 2.0 Satisfactory — Meets basic requirements
D 60% – 69% 1.0 Below Average — Needs improvement
F Below 60% 0.0 Failing — Does not meet minimum requirements

How GPA Is Calculated

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated by averaging the grade points across all graded items in a channel. For example, if you earned an A (4.0) on homework and a B (3.0) on a test, your channel GPA would be 3.5. Your cumulative GPA across all channels is shown on your student dashboard.

Tip: Improve Your Grades
  • Review the video lesson before taking the related test.
  • Submit homework on time to avoid late penalties.
  • If retakes are allowed, study the material and try again for a better score.
  • Check your grades regularly on the dashboard to stay on track.
